Film description

A regular Bhutanese family, living off the main track. The father looks after the family temple in which his ancestors has been praying for decades. He encourages his son to fulfill the rituals, but the boy is more interested in watching the pictures of his friends online. His sister, who was born with a boy’s soul, prefers playing football to cooking traditional dishes.

The directors follow the everyday life of the family, creating an unobtrusive portrait of daily activities and disputes, small episodes revealing the inevitable generational conflict. The background for this impressive story is the fast-changing modern Bhutan, with its close ties to tradition, history, and the slow pace of life, interrupted by modern technologies and new types of entertainment. The filmmakers avoid sensationalist tones, painting a subtle picture of family ties and the respect the family has for each other, despite the differences of opinion.
