Film description
Tough Hong Kong cop Lee goes to Pattaya, famous seaside city in Thailand, looking for his missing daughter Chi. Thai Chinese police officer Chui Kit lets him join the investigation, having no idea that Lee is going to use any method to hunt for clues. A blurry short clip showing in the background that Chi is being captured into one of the police cars is uploaded to the website, but subsequently deleted. Lee does not have anything to lose, but as Chui Kit and his colleague get closer to the truth, they will have to pay high price for their diligence and make hard choices as the mastermind behind the scene is not someone they can deal with...
"Paradox" is a continuation of "SPL" series ("Kill Zone" 2005, 2015), which was director Wilson Yip's big commercial success, starring Hong Kong action cinema legends Donnie Yen, Sammo Hung in the original film and Tony Jaa, Wu Jing in the sequel. The series explore the way the characters’ fates are interconnected, although their life values and perspectives differ. The casts were given freedom to interpret their roles and modify their performance, completing greatly choreographed action scenes with dramatic depth, resulting in Louis Koo being awarded Best Actor at 2018 Asian Film Awards.

Wilson Yip
Born in 1963 in Hong Kong, he loved watching films ever since he was a child. After graduating from high school he started searching for work in local film industry. In 1985 he managed to join Cinema City and Films Co. - highly influential production company, who changed the face of mainstream Hong Kong cinema, producing the films directed by John Woo, Tsui Hark, Johnnie To among many others. For ten years Wilson Yip did various jobs around the company and finally became an assistant director. After Cinema City and Films Co.'s gradual decline in 1990s, he completed his first independent full-feature, "Mongkok Story", which was well-received by the audience as well as critics. Then he directed series of B movies, among which "Bio Zombie" now enjoys a cult status. The turning point in Yip's career was crime-drama "Bullets Over Summer", which was the beginning of a long term cooperation with actor Louis Koo. After completing this title Wilson Yip started to specialize in action cinema and went on to director hugely successful series "Ip Man" and "SPL".
