Film description

Taeko, in her laced shoes and a white shirt buttoned up to her neck, arrives in a small guesthouse on one of the Okinawa islands. She's looking for rest and solitude. But as it turns out, she can't count on a discrete, professional service. The local community has its own, slightly bizarre, customs, which she willy-nilly has to adapt to. Distancing yourself from others is not a desirable quality here. And the island, as the host uneasily admits, has absolutely nothing interesting to see. What it does have is the raw beauty of nature, empty beaches, and a very turquoise sea.

This minimalistic, poetic postcard from unusual holidays was made using modest, but potent means. The atmospheric frames, in which every object appears for a reason, contemplate the humble beauty of a small town and the daily routines celebrated by its people. The absurd, yet subtle sense of humor pinpoints every scene, and the characters are ceaselessly intriguing. And adorable and surprising story about learning to look at the sea, tasting ice-cream, and the virtue of morning gymnastics.
