The Odd Family: Zombie on Sale
Film description
The Park Family is a colourful menagerie of dysfunctional personages and complicated personalities. The existence in the peaceful province goes on somehow even if the petrol station is not a highly profitable business. All that will be turned upside down when a zombie that prowls (quite clumsily) in the vicinity attacks Man-deok, the patriarch of the family. The bite has unexpected consequences which the Parks will try to… monetize. Playing with the perennial rules of nature usually ends up badly and accepting Zongbi under the family roof will dramatically change the history of the whole community.
Linking the walking dead with comedy accents has been tested by filmmakers thousands of times. Creating something new is actually very difficult but here it worked perfectly. The action starts at a lazy pace but it quickly gains speed, leading to an inevitable, daringly filmed catastrophe, which has both slapstick an apocalyptic dimension. Additionally, thanks to the atypical, green and sunlit location and the strongly outlined characters of each of the family members, the movie provides a mix of fear and laughter served in perfect proportions.
