Film description

Neon Tokyo, crammed rooms of nightclubs, and a panorama of male fantasies shown from the perspective of three women working in the erotic industry. Widowers addicted to hikikomori computers, SM enthusiasts, and nosy journalists – the variety of clients is wide, but they are not the focus of the narration. Each heroine is a strong, complex character, each one struggles with her problems and makes difficult choices. One thing that connects them is an unnamed agreement based on solidarity and a silent understanding.

Shiraishi creates involving, reliable psychological cinema, set in a reality similar to that of the original, also combining sarcastic humor with bitter diagnoses, and seducing with its original visual form. Here sex is treated with with unassuming sincerity – it can be boring, charming, unpleasant, but also liberating. "Dawn of the Felines" is a study of emotions, and a daring diagnosis of the Japanese society in the times of online dating, complemented with captivating pictures of a bustling city.
