Film description

Year 1937. Japanese bombs are falling on Shanghai. Two strangers, Kwok-man and Aak-suk, find shelter under a bridge to wait out the danger. They can’t even see each other's faces in the darkness, but they promise each other they will meet again in the same place when the nightmare of war is over. Ten years later, they are back in Shanghai, unaware that they live in the same building. Will fate bring them together again?

It is hard to believe that this is the first film by Tsui Hark shown at Five Flavours. With his energy and inventiveness, the giant of Hong Kong cinema and one of the most important authors in the history of the Tenth Muse, took it to a higher level, primarily in the field of action cinema, but he was also the creator of light romantic comedies. The charming, fast-paced, slapstick-style, music-filled and colorful "Shanghai Blues" will put viewers in a great mood!

The film will be screened from a restored 4K copy.
