08 November 2019
NANG Magazine

Five Flavours is not only excellent cinema, it also offers great literature. For the second time, thanks to the Tajfuny Bookstore, the festival viewers can buy the best books from Asia and about Asia. And all this in our festival centre at Kinoteka!

The Tajfuny Bookstore is located at 12, Chmielna street in Warsaw, but for the time of Five Flavours it moves to the festival space at Kinoteka.

Tajfuny is a genuine phenomenon – a curator’s bookshop and a publishing house specialised in South Asian Literature, which has stolen the hearts of its fans with excellent literature and tremendous devotion of the team. The souls of the enterprise are Karolina Bednarz – a Japanese studies expert, reporter and author of the book “Kwiaty w pudełku. Japonia oczami kobiet”, and Anna Wołcyrz – a Japanese studies expert and translator.

Between the screenings the spectators can visit the stand of Tajfuny located in the space of the festival centre at Kinoteka. The place will also host a unique meeting with the editors of the latest issue of NANG magazine, which will have its premiere at Five Flavours.

NANG: The Scent of Boys
premiere of issue no. 7

Saturday, 16 November
3 p.m.
Kinoteka, Tajfuny Bookstore

An ambitious magazine NANG combines sophisticated design with insightful analysis of contemporary Asian cinema. Authors from all over the world and filmmakers themselves are looking at niche, avant-garde and borderline projects. A Five Flavours discussion with the editors will focus on the latest issue of the periodical, dedicated to excluded sexuality, sensuous perception of the cinema and LGBTIQ+.

The official premiere of this unique publication will be attended by the editors of the issue, Victor Fan and Earl Jackson, and the talk will be moderated by Bartosz Żurawiecki – a film critic, journalist, columnist and writer.

We invite you to the meeting at the festival stand of Tajfuny at Kinoteka, where you can purchase your own copy of NANG magazine. The Tajfuny bookstore located in Chmielna 12, is the only place in Poland, where one can purchase the NANG Magazine.
