Film description
Eka and her brother Hari get the dramatic news of their mother's suicide. Devastated, they return to their home village to plan their mother's burial. The village (of course) turns out to be weird and nightmarish, its inhabitants – unwelcoming, and the thick, woods around it – extremely dangerous. What secrets does this gloomy place hide? And what pushes the people of the village to take their own lives? Will the siblings find out the truth about their mother, suspected of making a dark, shamanic pact with the forces of evil? And find out who they really are?
It is not easy to come up with something fresh and surprising in the folk horror genre today, but Cornelio Sunny bravely proves that it is still possible. "Death Knot" rejects cheap generic tricks and special effects put in to cover the lack of ideas. One by one, the horrifying events tighten the string of tension, inevitably pushing the audiences to the edges of their seats. Regardless of its low budget, the clever script makes "Death Knot" the best Indonesian scare of they year – intriguing, atmospheric, and blood-chilling!
