Thang Long Do came to Poland in 1989, at the age of 19, as a Vietnamese stipend student. Even though he graduated from Optoelectronics at the Warsaw University of Technology, music has always been a big part of his life. In 1994, he won the TV singing show "Szansa na sukces," but then he put the needs his growing family first, and devoted himself to business. After many years, when his middle son wanted to go to an acting school, Long decided to participate in a casting to show him that being a professional actor is not just being on stage, but also doing the arduous work of chasing the roles. Unexpectedly, though, he won the casting, and his son went on to study acting anyway. Currently, as the Chairman of the Board of BAY - Artistic and Cultural Association of the Vietnamese in Poland, he promotes Vietnamese culture to enhance multicultural awareness and support the process integration of the Vietnamese in Poland.
The Taste of Pho
Mr. Long, a pho specialist, has to face the demands of the new owner of the restaurant. But mastering new culinary skills is less of a challenge than being a single parent of his clever 10-year-old daughter. This brilliantly humorous Polish-Vietnamese story, in which details speak louder than words, is a touching tale about intimacy, alienation, little joys, and being persistent in pursuing your goals.
