Five Flavours goes fully online!
The year of the 14th Five Flavours brought us many challenges. Our goal is to respond to them responsibly, while ensuring the highest quality of our offer and the safety of all viewers and everyone involved in organizing the Festival. That is why we decided to hold the Festival completely in an online form and to prolong it by a few extra days.
Five Flavours films will be presented on our own VOD platform, created specifically with the Festival and its needs in mind. The Festival will take place from November 25 till December 6.
From the beginning, we have been planning this year’s Festival with viewers both in cinemas and at homes in mind. Deciding on one of those paths today allows us to focus all Festival team efforts on online activities, guaranteeing that the digital version of the Festival will bring you just as much knowledge, experiences, and emotions as its offline version would. This situation challenges us to find new forms of contact with you, our audiences, to create a more diverse program, and to find new contexts for our films.
Our hope is that the internet will allow us to expand our Festival family and reach the audiences who, for various reasons, were not able to come to Warsaw before. Our program will be presented even in places without access to the big screens. We want to talk about Asia and discover its unique cinemas with viewers from all over Poland.
Some of this year’s sections were designed specifically to let us wander through some of the least known corners of the continent together, learn about surprising intercultural and interpersonal similarities, and to experiment with Asian cuisines – also in your own kitchens. The cutting-edge VR section, the details of which will be revealed soon, will let you dive deep into the distant future on a scale which, until recently, seemed like like a fantastical science-fiction endeavor.
Of course, the films will not be left to themselves. The Festival team is working hard on preparing additional materials. You can count on meetings with filmmakers, virtual discussions, and introductions to the films, filled with intriguing cultural and production details, which will enrich the home screenings with an extra dose of knowledge and contextual trivia. We are not forgetting about the Festival atmosphere, either. The special Five Flavours packs will bring the feel and taste of the Festival to your homes.
A year ago, making an online film festival seemed abstract. Today, the virtual space opens us to new possibilities. Our love for the silver screen is as strong as ever, but in these tough times, the heart of the Festival – the films and the community built around them – will find shelter in the virtual world.

The pre-festival Asian Horror Night will take place in Muranów cinema, as scheduled, in full accordance with all current sanitary restrictions. At least two of the films presented at the event will also form part of the online Festival program.
We will contact the viewers who have already bought passes for the cinema version of the Festival individually. The passes for the online version of the Festival are available at our website for 100 PLN.
