Film description
Boxing is not just a career, it is also a passion, a way of life, and countless hour spent in training. Urita gets out on the ring, even though he loses all his fights. Ogawa, on the other hand, has a real talent, and easily knocks out all his opponents on the way to his championship. Where will the friends' careers develop from there and are all cards already on the table?
"Blue" is an atypical film about boxing, told in the key of a quiet psychological melodrama. The director does not focus on the most effective ways of filming the gushing blood and broken noses, but on the everyday lives of the protagonists from a small boxing club, who truly love their sport.
Why are people so eager to sacrifice their time and health for this difficult sport? The director answers the question in a subtle, bittersweet way, letting us feel the smell of the training room and feel the emotions ob being between the corners. "Blue" is a smart film about dreams, stubbornness, the need for appreciation ingrained deep within all of us. It captures the truth about human nature in a way that is surprisingly subtle for a boxing film, but remains incredibly accurate.

Keisuke Yoshida
Director and screenwriter, born in Saitama. He began working in the film industry already as a student of visual arts in Tokyo. He collaborated with Shinya Tsukamoto – as an actor in "Bullet Ballet" and as camera assistant for "The Snake of June." His 2005 debut "Raw Summer" received an award a the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival. From then on, he has been busy making genre films.
He has been boxing for 30 years.
