Film description
A gangster film with a soul of a Western, set in Macao just before it came under Chinese jurisdiction. To gathers a bunch of his favourite actors to tell a story about honour, revenge, and the true male friendship. About the world in which law officers are intruders, and a man's fate depends on a toss of a coin.
Stylized shooting sequences are dazzling – the director develops the ideas from "The Mission," making the characters freeze in still poses, turning them into figures on the check board of life and death. "Exiled" is a spectacular, visually stunning work, a pure cinematic experience. It is a homage to the Westerns of Leone and Peckinpah, and at the same time their continuation.
