Morning Live Meeting: Asian Horror Cinema

28 November 2020

We begin the Saturday morning with a thrill, looking at horror films at this year's Five Flavours.

Horror cinema is a must-have element of the Festival – Asian cultures offer a rich variety of dark legends and horrifying mythical characters, who easily adapt to the modern reality, vast metropolises and new technologies. We have already seen demons using video cassettes or mobile networks. This year, it is time for ghost to inhabit virtual reality and harass girls addicted to Instagram filters!

Discussing cultural contexts and production of "Impetigore," "Beauty Water," and "Tag Along VR" will be Jakub Królikowski and Marcin Krasnowolski.

Red Carpet

In the evening, it is time for a sweeter note. At 7 p.m., we will talk to the makers of "Not My Mother's Baking," which has its international premiere at Five Flavours. At the Red Carpet, we will host the director, Remi M Sali, the producer, Ho Pak Kin, and the lead actresses and stars of the Singapore culinary scene, Sara Ariffin and Siti Mastura Alwi.
