Guests of the 9th Five Flavours
Five Flavours involves not only great Asian films but is also proud to host filmmakers who visit Warsaw to meet the festival audience and present their works.
Francis Xavier Pasion
Born in 1978 in Manila, the Philippines. Pasion's feature debut, "Jay", was presented in the Orizzonti section at the Venice Film Festival and earned him awards both in the Philippines and at international festivals. He's been involved in many TV film series as well as is a university teacher specialised in intependent cinema.
His latest film, "Crocodile", is included in the competition section New Asian Cinema.

Carlo Mendoza
Director of photography of "Shadow Behind the Moon" directed by Jun Robles Lana and one of the producers of the feature. Since 2007 was involved as DOP in numerous films presented at international festivals, such as "Jay" directed by Francis Xavier Pasion and "Bwakaw" by Jun Robles Lana, the latter of which was presented at the 8th edition of Five Flavours.
Kulikar Sotho
Born in 1973, she grew up in the times of the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. She is a co-owner of Hanuman Films and producer of numerous documentary and feature films. She was involved in Venice-awarded "Ruin" (2013) and "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" (2001), among others. "The Last Reel" is her feature debut. Besides meeting the audience at the Q&As after her screenings at Five Flavours, she will take part in panel discussions focused on the history of Cambodian cinema and position of female authors within Asian film industry.
Kulikar Sotho
Miwa Nishikawa
Director of "Dreams for Sale" and "Dear Doctor" presented in the section Focus: Female Japanese Directors.
She is also a writer and author of clever scripts filled with her distinctive sense of humour. She started her film career as an assistant of Hirokazu Koreeda.
She is widely regarded as a continuator of the humanistic approach in the Japanese cinematography represented by Yasuhiro Ozu and Mikio Naruse.
Her works were awarded with prestigious Japanese Academy Award, Kinema Jumpo critics' award, Mainichi Shinbun and Blue Ribbon Award, among others.
Miwa Nishikawa
Luk Yee-sum
Before her directorial debut with "Lazy Hazy Crazy" she worked as a private detective and writer. She joined Making Film Productions in 2011 to co-write scripts to two Pang Ho-cheung's films, "Love in a Buff" and "Vulgaria" (6th Five Flavours).
Her directorial debut is included in the competition section New Asian Cinema.

Fresh Wave authors
Five Flavours hosts also young directors from Hong Kong whose works are presented as a part of Fresh Wave programme: Wong Tin-shing (director of "The Drifter"), Edith Chong Yuen-ping (director of "Someday We'll Know"), Lim Yee-teng (DOP of "Someday We'll Know"), Yip Man Hay (director of "Food Fascist"), Law Sin-yan (producer of "Food Fascist") and Sam Chan Chi-lap (DOP of "Vampire's Love").
