Asian Academy at the 19th Five Flavors
The Asian Academy is a series of meetings, debates, and discussions that promote knowledge about Asian film culture and its social context. It is a space where cinema meets reflection — and viewers have the opportunity to look deeper, further, and wider. The discussions will be attended by researchers, journalists, and artists specializing in Asian cultures – their expert insight will allow us to discover new interpretative clues and subtle cultural nuances.
Asian Academy is a unique opportunity to go beyond the film itself and see how closely it is intertwined with reality. This year, we will talk about, among other things, the success of South Korea's New Cinema, the generational phenomenon of the Typhoon Club, the panorama of migration in Asia and beyond, accessibility in cinema, the links between Asian sci-fi literature and film, and contemporary feminism in China.
We invite you to participate in the discussions — admission to all Asian Academy events is free!
