Fresh Wave arrives!

Fresh Wave arrives in Warsaw on Thursday and Saturday, 7th and 9th November, to Kino Muranow and The Muzeum of Wola.

Fresh Wave was created by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council to promote young directors from Hong Kong. Highly acclaimed director Johnnie To supports the programme as a mentor and is responsible for production of the shorts.

The programme presented at Five Flavours includes:

  • The Key Chain, dir. Chan Wai-man, 2010
  • Epilepsy, dir. Lee Kai-ho, 2011
  • Still on the Bridge, dir. Pako Leung Pak-ho, 2011
  • Sew, dir. Li Yin-fung, 2011
  • On Sleepless Roads, the Sleepless Goes, dir. Isabella Candice Lam, 2012
  • Oasis, dir. Lam Sum, 2012
  • The Little One, dir. Tam Wai-ching, 2012
  • God Bless All Parents, dir. Lau Wing-tai, 2012
  • Flowers with Aphasia, dir. Li Sum-yuet, 2012
  • Such a Girl Like Me, dir. Man Uen-ching, 2012


Chan Wai-man, Lam Sum, Lau Wing-tai and Pako Leung Pak-ho are four Fresh Wave directors who visit Five Flavours to present their films.

"Fresh Wave endeavours to spark originality and creativity in filmmaking by translating youngfilmmakers’ inspirations to visions and from visions to screen images.
The Fresh Wave Short Film Competition was conceived by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council in 2005 as a platform to unearth aspiring young filmmakers and promote the development of local film art. Since then Fresh Wave has become an annual celebration of our new generation cinema, thrusting the best of its works onto the world stage."
