Film description
Fok was an excellent policeman, but his career ended after a failed operation. A few years later, he returns to public service as a prosecutor. When he is assigned the case of a young man accused of drug trafficking, something about it does not add up. Even the defence lawyer seems eager to see the accused behind bars. Fok will not rest until he uncovers the truth.
Based on a shocking real-life corruption case from 2016, "The Prosecutor" showcases Donnie Yen’s talents both in front of and behind the camera. Yen blends courtroom drama with pure action cinema, delivering fiery legal monologues and striking down villains with trademark precision, while leaving audiences to ponder whether justice truly prevails in the courtroom or on the streets. This high-budget production marks a new chapter in Yen’s career and is a striking reminder that Hong Kong remains a powerhouse of action cinema. Audiences agreed: the film became a local box-office hit in 2024.
