Save the Dates: the 20th Five Flavours

The special 20th anniversary edition of the Five Flavours Asian Film Festival will take place in Warsaw cinemas from 10 to 17 November, with the festival’s online programme continuing until 6 December. The festival’s signature Five Flavours replicas will once again travel beyond the capital, returning to Łódź and Wrocław (12–15 November) and Poznań (19–22 November).

For two decades, the Five Flavours Asian Film Festival has introduced audiences to the extraordinary diversity of cinema from East, South and Southeast Asia. More than just a film showcase, the festival creates a rich cultural context around its programme – offering engaging and insightful perspectives on the social, political and cultural dynamics shaping the region. It remains the only festival of its kind in Poland.

The 20th edition will therefore be a perfect moment for a nostalgic journey through the festival’s history, tracing how Five Flavours has evolved over the years. And since this milestone coincides with theYear of the Fire Horse, audiences can expect an edition full of energy, surprises and bold glimpses of foraying into the future.

We also have good news to share: the festival has received three-year support from the City of Warsaw and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, providing an important boost for its continued development. The project is also supported by the Polish Film Institute, while a grant from the Accessible Culture programme (Ministry of Culture and National Heritage) will allow the festival to further expand initiatives that improve accessibility for audiences with disabilities.

The full programme announcement and ticket sales launch on 20 October. Until then, we will gradually reveal the sections and titles that will shape this special anniversary edition.

The Warsaw screenings will take place at Kino Muranów, Kinoteka and Kinomuzeum at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (MSN). Festival replicas will continue at the National Centre for Film Culture in Łódź, Kino Nowe Horyzonty in Wrocław, and Kino Pałacowe in Poznań.
