Film description

A chance meeting with film megastar Hwang Jung-min is an opportunity a ruthless gang of kidnappers is not about to miss. They abduct the actor and hide him in their lair in the middle of nowhere. They have a foolproof plan and are on track to a payout of a lifetime. All their hostage can do is put faith in the police and his agent or… his own wits and acting skills.

Hostage: Missing Celebrity is a clever remake of a Chinese film noir Saving Mr. Wu starring Andy Lau, but it is far more entertaining than the 2015 original. Pil turned the movie into an explosive, fast-paced blockbuster with Hwang’s absolutely brilliant character. One of the biggest Korean stars is having a blast playing himself and making references to his iconic roles. Thanks to its powerful action scenes, dark humor, and intelligent reflections, Hostage: Missing Celebrity confirms what we have known for years – nobody makes action films better than the Korean! The film was a huge box office hit in Korea.
