Festival with a mission. "The Potential of Cultural Events for Antidiscrimination Activities" training
From June 28 till July 1, Centrum Kreatywności Targowa hosted an international training on the effective use of cultural events for promoting tolerance and inspiring openness, prepared by Arteria Art Foundation.
The event is a part of the Erasmus+ project “Festival as a Form of Education,” organised by Arteria, and is designed for the organizers, collaborators, jurors, and volunteers of Five Flavours Asian Film Festival, and the representatives of its partner festivals: Far East Film Festival in Udine, Camera Japan in Rotterdam, and Cine Aasia in Helsinki.
The goal of the four-day training is gaining practical knowledge on preventing discrimination, which will be used to shape future festival events. During the workshops, we want to work on ideas for educational activities connected with the festival which can help us reach new audiences and make the people of Warsaw more sensitive to the problems of minorities, as well as prevent the stereotypical perception of other cultures and promote tolerance and openness to things different and less familiar.
The event consisted of lectures and trainings devoted to identifying and preventing discrimination, social and political situation in Asian countries, good practices in education and integration, and reaching and engaging wider audiences in festival activities promoting Asian culture.
